Looks like one little monkey is getting a visit from the Tooth Fairy tonight!

Feasting and Such

I realized this year that the Thanksgiving Feast at school is THE big deal of the year.

I had trouble getting off work yesterday, so the Expert was father of the year with Stella - and went.  She has two feasts because she is in two different classes (long story), but I was able to attend her feast and James' play today.

Thankful for Dad. Teachers. Ms. Joni. And Potatoes.
Where's Mommy??? :)
 Thankful for Stella!!
(Where's Mommy!!) :)

When James saw Stella walk into his play, he told his classmate, "That's my sister. I don't want her here!"

Every kid has someone there- many kids had grandparents AND two parents.  The feeding feast is a big deal.  And I am glad we were there.  Fun times.  Growing up quickly.

This little take-home Mayflower was awesome....
James' play was AWESOME too.  Check out this video.

Halloween, Fall and it All

Time is flying. That is all.

We have a five year old son.  We have been married eleven years.  We have an almost four year old daughter.

I am almost 33.  The Expert is almost 36...which is closer to 40 than 30.

Time. Flies.

James' birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese happened. Came and went.

The Spider-Man cake came out well, and it was delicious. But I'm not sure why in the world I struggle through cake baking in 2012... when you can get anything in the world delivered to your door.  I guess to prove that I love my monkey enough to bake him a cake.

The party was good.  But don't get me started on how inconsiderate the THREE women who cancelled their kids' RSVP thirty minutes before the party were. We were driving to Chuck E. Cheese and I found out on my iPhone. Ridiculous.

Regardless, the six friends that came in support of James were awesome and we had a great time.

And now starts the crazy time of the year.  The school stuff--the pumpkin patches (ooops, that already happened), then the Thanksgiving Feasts, the Christmas parties. It promises to be a crazy holiday season for all of us.

As we were driving home last week, I gave the kids a toy catalog and asked them to circle things for their Santa lists.
Hysterically, they circled everything. Everything.

The Spirited One

Last night, the kids were especially evil for me.

I have been sick and my head was pounding, and they were everywhere.  Stella, hanging on the curtains.  Jumping off the seventh stair down to the foyer (!).  Standing on the counter (!).  Screaming when she wanted to watch "Arthur" versus "Spongebob."

Okay, so it's only Stella.

Stella Rae, the princess, is the new Atwood house troublemaker.

The girl has turned into the "Spirited One," instead of James.  All those years of James wearing us out. Now, he's like the perfect little citizen of the world.

"Oh, no. That's not what Mommy says, Stella," he'll say.  Then Stella will turn around and slap him across the face. What?!??!

She's fickle too.  A lover and a leaver. Like, she'll love you when she wants a cookie, but then once she's "done with you" ---she's done.  Miss Independent. Miss Self Sufficient.  The things I have prayed for in a daughter... and now, they are true.

I'm not sure if I have posted this before, but I don't want to EVER forget it.  It's the FUNNIEST thing in the world that James has ever said.  Stella was in the back of the car being bad... and James told her this: "Stella.  I am going to go to the ocean. And then I am going to catch a shark.  Then I am going to bring him back here, and he's going to eat you."

The Expert and I crack up everytime we think about it.  All the variables that would have to come true... for that scenario to happen.  First, James will need to be near the ocean. Then somehow get to the ocean, fashion a boat of sorts, catch a shark.... wrestle the shark back onto land... then somehow bring the live shark to his sister, and convince it to eat her.  I. Love. It.

But he's so right. Sometimes, I think I will go get a shark to eat the child.  If we can somehow turn her into a good citizen of the world before age 13.

But dang... she's the cutest thing I've ever seen. And I want to give her whatever she wants.
